About TMAs
What is a TMA?
A tutor-marked assignment (TMA) is a piece of coursework marked by your module tutor during the course. Distance-learning universities such as SUSS, the Open University and OUM use TMAs as continuous assessment, often alongside an exam or end-of-module assignment.
How much do TMAs count towards my grade?
It depends on the module. Many modules combine a continuous-assessment score from TMAs with an exam or final assignment score, and you may need to pass both. Your module guide states the weighting.
What is the difference between a TMA and an essay?
A TMA can be an essay, but it can also be a report, case study, reflection or set of calculations. What makes it a TMA is that it is set and marked by your tutor against a published rubric during the module.
Can I see an example TMA?
We do not share other students’ work. Your tutor can show you an illustrative paragraph or plan built for your question, so you can see a technique and apply it yourself.
Getting help
What exactly does a TMA tutor do?
Explains the question and rubric, helps you plan, gives written comments on your draft, checks your references and answers follow-up questions. The writing and the final submission are yours.
Can you help if I haven’t started yet?
Yes. Many students start with a planning session: your tutor helps you break down the question and outline your answer before you write.
Can you help me understand feedback on a marked TMA?
Yes. Send the marked TMA and comments. Your tutor explains each point and what to do differently next time.
My module is not listed on your site. Can you still help?
Very likely. Send your university and module code and we will tell you within 30 minutes whether we have a suitable tutor.
Integrity & AI
Is using a TMA tutor allowed?
Tutoring and feedback on your own work are normally allowed. Submitting work someone else wrote is not. We only tutor and give feedback, and you write and submit your TMA. Always check your own university’s rules.
Can I use ChatGPT or other AI tools for my TMA?
Only as your module allows. Some modules ban AI, some allow limited use with a declaration, and some ask you to critique an AI answer. Your tutor can explain what your module’s rules mean in practice.
What should I keep as evidence that the work is mine?
Your notes, plans and draft versions with their history, plus the sources you read. If your university ever asks, these show how your TMA developed.
Do you check my references are real?
Yes. Your tutor checks that each source exists and that your citation matches it — fabricated or mismatched references are a common reason for integrity concerns.
Payment & privacy
How do I pay?
By card through Stripe or by PayPal, in SGD, MYR, GBP, AUD or CAD. You receive a secure payment link after you confirm the price.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Your name, contact details, university, module and drafts are kept private and never shared or sold. See our privacy policy.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds depend on how far the work has gone. Our refund policy explains each stage.
Who will see my draft?
Only the tutor matched to your module and the support team handling your booking.
